Garden design, build and care in Surrey

Good gardens start
with the soil.

Fernhill designs, builds and looks after gardens across Surrey and the Hampshire borders. Native planting, honest timelines, and we leave every site cleaner than we found it.

What we do

Three trades, one crew,
zero excuses.

Garden design

We start with a spade, not a sketchbook. Test pits, drainage checks and a proper soil survey come before any drawing. Then you get a planting plan to scale, priced honestly, full of plants that suit your ground rather than the garden centre's bestseller list.

Build and planting

Our own crews lay the stone paths, set the sleeper beds and plant every hedge whip by hand. We batch the planting to the right season, stake what needs staking, and sweep your drive before the van pulls away. That last part is a house rule.

Irrigation and care

Drip lines hidden under the mulch, a timer that knows when it rained, and a visit schedule that follows the seasons instead of the calendar on our fridge. Most of our build clients stay on a Fernhill care plan for years. That tells you something.

Weald Road, 14 weeks apart.

Heavy clay, a tired lawn and a fence line nobody loved. We double dug the beds, fixed the drainage and planted 400 natives in October. By the following June it looked like the right side.

They dug test pits before they even quoted. Nobody else did that. Two years on, the beds still match the plan they drew at our kitchen table, and the crew swept the road before they left. My neighbours keep asking who built it.
