The shop
Old barbering, new address.
Fadewell opened in 2016 with two chairs, one strop and a stubborn idea: a haircut should take as long as it takes. We are now six chairs deep on Milwaukee Avenue, and the idea has not moved an inch.
Every cut ends with a hot towel and a straight razor neck shave. The coffee is free, the records are vinyl, and nobody will try to sell you a bag of product on the way out.

The chair is yours.
For forty five minutes, nobody needs anything from you. That only works if we all keep a few small agreements.

Show up on time.
We hold your chair for ten minutes. After that it goes to the walk-in list and we will get you in when we can.

Say what you actually want.
Bring a photo if you have one. If it will not suit you, we will say so before the clippers come out, not after.

Phones down during the shave.
A straight razor at your throat deserves your attention as much as ours. Calls can wait forty minutes.

The coffee is free.
So is the water and the whiskey on Fridays after five. The good armchair by the window is first come, first served.

Seven days, no charge, no questions, no sulking. We would rather fix a cut than lose a regular.

Been going every third Saturday for six years. Marcus remembers my cut, my kid's name and exactly how I take my coffee. That is worth more than the fade, and the fade is perfect.
I fell asleep during the hot towel shave. Woke up looking like a new hire. Tommy just nodded and handed me my coffee like it happens all the time. Apparently it does.
